It was pixel art, but not like Terraria pixel art-more like Atari pixel art. GRAPHICS: Nidhogg 1 had bare bones graphics. So, I'm still a bit clouded with misery over all this, so to break down simply what the problems are with Nidhogg 2, I'm going to go point by point. I've never been more disappointed with a sequel than with this game. It's the most disappointing sequel since. Nidhogg 2 doesn't improve Nidhogg in any way, shape, or form. Yeah, that's a real good question, and the answer is no. ![]() Now you may be asking yourself: how could you make a sequel to Nidhogg of all things? That's like making a sequel to Tetris and calling it Tetris 2! Tetris 1 was so perfect and simplistic, and that's what made it great! Are you really saying that there's an objective way to improve upon the first Tetris? I guess one of the two (or both) got someone at Messhof so excited that they decided to make a sequel. Nidhogg got a decent amount of praise: critics loved it and it gained a very small following. It's one of the barest competitive games since Pong. You and your opponent are equal in EVERY SINGLE respect except for one thing: who's on the offensive and who's on the defensive. But there was one thing it was good at, and it was gameplay. Nidhogg was never a game that was known for its sound design, graphics, story-basically anything. It's a constant tug-o-war, and it's real fuckin fun. If you kill them again, you regain your ability to progress and so on. If your opponent kills you, they gain the ability to progress. This gives you a progression arrow, which allows you to run to one side of the screen as far as possible before you're either killed by your opponent, or you reach the end and win. The goal is to kill your opponent (either with your sword or by hand). ![]() So for those of you who haven't played the original Nidhogg, it's a game with two people fencing. Nidhogg is one of my favorite games of all time, and Messhof recently came out with a sequel, Nidhogg 2. This probably isn't going to get seen by anyone who cares, but at this point I need to get this off my chest just for the sake of getting some room to breathe. The surge caused officials to ask the Polish government for 1,000 troops to secure the border earlier this week. The head of the border guard says 19,000 people have tried to cross the border illegally since January - up from 16,000 in all of last year. Yesterday's figures fit into a picture that Polish officials have been painting for weeks, suggesting that crossings have rocketed this year. It means over 500 people have been detained already this year for assisting illegal border crossings. They added that three Ukrainian nationals were also arrested for trying to help four Syrian and three Bangladeshi citizens into Poland. Quoting border officials, Polish media is reporting that 160 people tried to cross into Poland yesterday, including citizens of Somalia, Egypt, Ethiopia and Sri Lanka. Yesterday was one of the busiest days yet for the Polish border guard's attempts to crack down on illegal migration from Belarus. ![]() Last month, Royal Navy officers trained their Ukrainian counterparts in northwest Scotland's Loch Ewe, showing them how to defuse bombs underwater. The UK is among the countries to have provided bomb disposal experts for training. Mr Reznikov also appealed to Kyiv's allies to ramp up their support in demining the country, calling on them to "expand and expedite" training for the Ukrainian military. “At this stage of our de-occupation campaign we critically need more mine clearance equipment, from minesweeping trawls to Bangalore torpedoes,” he said. The defence minister said that while that meeting had unlocked donations, more was desperately needed from a wider range of partners. Mr Reznikov added: “Russian minefields are a serious obstacle for our troops, but not insurmountable," he said. Some of those mines have been left by Ukrainian forces to protect their own defensive lines - but the vast majority are Russian. Some parts of the frontline presented up to five mines per square metre, he said. Speaking to the Guardian newspaper, Oleksii Reznikov claimed that millions of explosive devices had been placed along a frontline extending roughly 600 miles. Months of Ukrainian pushback and Russian defence have left Ukraine the most heavily mined country in the world, according to the country's defence minister. In addition, mental health diagnosis isn’t as easy as diagnosis of physical ailments: On one end of the spectrum is a person who doesn’t feel well because they’re isolated from family, colleagues and friends. “By bringing in other kinds of resources, such as behavior health coaches to handle most of the population, they use technology, like chat, and are also able to measure and make personalized decisions so outcomes are better,” Glass said. In response, Ginger’s approach combines other treatment options to free up licensed therapists for more advanced patient needs. Provider shortage is due to a combination of factors, such as behavioral therapy being an underpaid field compared to other medical fields, said Russell Glass, CEO of San Francisco-based Ginger, an on-demand mental health company providing around-the-clock access to emotional support via coaching, therapy and psychiatry. “The level of reporting makes that job almost impossible.” “Seventy-five percent of primary care physicians will accept insurance, but only 20 percent of psychotherapists do,” he added. Mental health providers don’t always accept insurance as payment due to the complexity in reporting, though there are startups developing tools and resources to address the back-office work, Frank said. Still, as more startups meet the demand for care, they are battling stigmas around mental illness, a shortage of therapists and the knowledge that poor mental wellbeing is likely to persist this year as the pandemic continues to isolate us all.
